#1 Exhaust length on FHC and 2+2

Is it possible to fit an exhaust from an FHC onto a 2 + 2, anyone know the difference in the lengths which I presume is in the mid section?

About nine inches I would suggest as that is the difference between the FHC and 2+2.
The easiest thing would be to go onto SNG Barratt's website
https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/#/uk/home
look at exhausts for both FHC and 2+2 for your model (S1 or S2?) then see which vehicles individual items fit (it shows this when you click on an item).
You can then compare and decide which bits you need to buy.
Are you without parts for your car, wishing to renew or what?
Adding your car type to your signature will help everyone answer quicker as they don't have to second guess things.

Its possible to make anything fit.....the fhc boxes typically come as twin boxes connected together with welded brackets...the 2+2 boxes are individual held in place with upper and lower brackets.....different mount brackets are used on tne 2 different systems.......so basically its down to making it fit rather than just fitting 9in of extra pipe.....Steve

The major difference between 2+2 and standard chassis exhausts , apart from length , is that the 2+2 has the pipes going into a single pipe for one of the intermediate sections ( IIRC the one immediately after the downpipes ) which leads into a bifurcated pipe which then leads to the twin boxes . Twin pipes thencontinue to the rear . I should try and find pics on this site and compare the two if you can

Centre box fittings are different as the 2+2 floor is lower than the coupe.
I know of one 2+2 which has straight pipes instead of centre boxes. It's a V12 and it makes a nice noise. A bit drummy inside though.

The 2 into 1 into two configuration was because it was needed for 2+2's with auto boxes where extra room was needed. If you have a manual, like mine, you don't need that but all cars were made the same way for cost purposes. When I had my pipes replaced, I did away with that (which seemed a bit strangling on exhaust emission) and had the same 2 all the way through as a FHC
