Okay, so what did they call it? Light blue?

Nothing wrong with the number section but the "California" above it makes the whole stick on look far too big...does it need to be there?......Steve

Ok, starting to understand. I agree with Steve’s comment, the font on the licence number looks fine but looks far too big with the word California above. Is it a legal requirement?

Why would one do that?
Actually looks worse than stock location.
I’m in Calif and first thing i did 40 years ago was remove front plate on my Jag.
Same on my Sprite and an Alfa I used to have. Got a fixit ticket around 76 on the Alfa, none since.

Opinions noted. Thanks! In California (as in many? most? other states) both a front and rear plate are required, however apparently unlike other states, enforcement here is spotty. The license plate wrap is an alternate to the metal front plate. https://licenseplatewrap.com/

If you’re looking for legal i would doubt the wrap is legal. Only the issued plate is legal. A wrap may garner more attention than nothing as it’s not issue and you could have a fake number done for whatever nefarious reason.
