#1 Paint or powder coat ?

Post by tim wood » Tue Oct 18, 2022 1:54 pm

Hi all,
So in the usual Order of doing things back to front I’ve had my car painted externally and am now tidying the under bonnet.
I’ve removed all of the inner wing panels attached to the frames and structure ready for repaint. Currently they are black and scratched.
So what do you think is best for these ; a simple strip and repaint or shall I have them powder coated?
Full gloss or satin ?

Thoughts welcome

Originally painted semi-gloss black. Paint or powder coat but paint is easier to touch up if chipped or scratched.

I went with Rust Buster brand 2 pack semigloss chassis paint. Good finish. Quite tough and very forgiving when spraying. Goes a long way too.
Used on the heater, splash shields and the ally panels.

Powder coat satin black. If done properly very durable.

That's what I would do.
