69-70 Safety/Emission changes
#1 69-70 Safety/Emission changes
I own a 1970 E Type ots in New York State which includes all the US mandated safety/emission changes including larger taillights, stromberg carbs, emission controls, etc. When the US DOT mandated these changes in 69-70, did Jaguar incorporate these modifications in production of all E Types or just those made for US consumption?

Mainly for the US where your rules where more stringent. In the UK we kept triple SU carbs all through the six cylinder production life. If you read some of the knowledge section you’ll be able to appreciate what was done.
Hope this helps.

The US spec cars differed from the ROW as follows:
Stromberg carbs with emission control
Indicator repeaters on the wings
Different colour side/indicator lenses
Minimalist toolkit
