Hi, I ordered some switch legend bulbs (the tiny 2W ones) from a trader on a well- known auction site.
Within an hour I received an e mail asking for my car reg number if in the UK or VIN number if outside the UK. This was so that they could check the compatibility of the items to my car.
This e mail came direct to me and not through the usual auction site messaging system.
I don't know how they got my e mail address.
Sounds somewhat odd to me. What do you all think?

Lots of part suppliers ask for reg numbers usually to ensure they are supplying the correct part. Mostly done for modern cars but I guess bulbs are generic items. Nothing to worry about because if anyone wants VIN's and reg numbers XKEdata has hundreds to choose from.

I still wouldn't supply any information to any email that came from an unexpected channel.
