#1 windscreen wipers rest position

Post by DWW » Sat Nov 26, 2022 3:23 pm

I see in photos of the triple wiper cars a variety of rest positions. Which is correct, should they be parked as low as possible to the frame, slightly resting on the frame or left floating resting on the glass itself? The problem predominantly concerns the end wiper which sort of tends to exceed the frame onto the scuttle.

Here’s mine Danny, I’m not a fan of arms/blades too high up.

Can't you adjust the rest position using the knurled knob on the bulkhead. The service manual shows you how to do it.

You may need to do this in conjunction with moving the arms on the wheelbox splines.

Stuart

If you can't make it work, make it complicated!

Seems the factory tells us just how they should be positioned - low on the glass, parallel to the lower edge:

Very difficult to get the driver side one to look right, I don't like the position over the bottom trim. I straightened the kink in the arm a bit, looks & lies better.

That's such a good picture. I'd seen the black and white one previously but amazing to see it in colour. For the cars closest to the camera, it's really interesting to see the exterior/trim colour combinations
