I made some ally guards that fit to the inside of the bonnet to stop the rain dropping in through the louvres and harming the manifolds and carbs, works quite well, any water dropping through the louvres on to the guards drains away so that it drops on to the surface below

Doesn't that affect the purpose of them, to let heat out? Or at least I assume that's why they are there!
