#1 Wiper Motor rebuild

Post by inner pickle » Fri Feb 17, 2023 3:45 pm

Some months back I sent my wiper motor off for service/rebuilding as it was removed from my 1966 car currently under restoration.
It was returned after 3-4 weeks and has recently been unwrapped and fitted. It didn't work.

My auto-electrician stated that the wires were incorrect ( wrong colours ) and it was duly sent off to my well known Jaguar Spares supplier who got it rebuilt. His supplier revealed that the unit had clearly not been dis-assembled, the bushes were as original and the inner motor didn't rotate.

If your thinking of using an well known Ebay advertiser then my advice is....don't. I can't repeat what both my auto-electrician and my well known parts supplier think of him

If your in doubt as to how to proceed with a similar unit, for legal reasons it's probably just safe to e mail or PM me.

Oddly there are references on here from others that have used the same source without a problem.

"be careful out there".....

just passing on for the benefit of others

Looks like he sent you back one of his faulty exchanges, probably in error.

I had my S1 wiper motor rebuilt by your "ebay supplier" Steve hunt and in his defence he did an excellent job. It looked brand new and has performed faultlessly since. I also spoke to him and his knowledge on lucas wiper motors is second to none.
So something strange here. I struggled to follow the story you say he initially rebuilt it, but when you found it did not work you sent it back to another well known jaguar supplier who then in turn sent it to someone else for testing.
Have you contacted him for an explanation?

No one has confirmed where the "rebuilt" wiper motor is from yet....so its just speculation unless the original poster gives more details.....Steve
