#1 Workshop Manual

Post by ColinGreyvensteyn » Mon Feb 27, 2023 9:30 pm

Hi All, looking for workshop manuals for E Types, are there ones that are better/worse than others? Do you need one for each series or is there one that covers them all?

The factory Service manual is all you need.

There are iterations for each of the three series.

Hi.
There are a number of workshop manuals available for the Jaguar E-Type, and some are better than others depending on your needs. Here are a few options to consider:

Jaguar E-Type Restoration Manual by Dave Pollard: This book is a comprehensive guide to restoring an E-Type, covering all aspects of the car's mechanical, electrical, and bodywork systems. It includes step-by-step instructions, diagrams, and photographs. This book is a good choice if you're planning on doing a full restoration.

Jaguar E-Type 3.8 & 4.2 Litre Series 1 & 2 Service Manual: This is the official factory service manual for the Series 1 and 2 E-Type. It includes detailed instructions for all maintenance and repair procedures, with diagrams and photographs. This manual is a good choice if you're looking for detailed technical information.

Jaguar E-Type 5.3 Litre Series 3 Service Manual: This is the official factory service manual for the Series 3 E-Type. It includes detailed instructions for all maintenance and repair procedures, with diagrams and photographs. This manual is a good choice if you're looking for detailed technical information specific to the Series 3.

It's worth noting that while some of these manuals may cover multiple series, they may not include all the information you need for each specific model year. It's a good idea to check the manual's table of contents or index to make sure it includes the information you're looking for.

I would argue the Spare Parts Catalogue - J.30 or J.37 for the 4.2 cars - is probably of equal or more value as they not only have detailed diagrams drawn as seen but the text literally tells you the order of assembly.
