CMC have produced a video guide of what to look for when buying an E Type. I've not watched it all as it is an hour long, but it might be of value to those considering buying one:

David, maybe you could regard this as another sticky when you've seen it? Or maybe a reference to this video in the KB

Not a bad watch, especially on the series 1, its a shame that when they move up to the series 2 and 3 there is a serious deterioration in the sound quality on the video.

Its a shame there‘s zero 2+2 content in it… I could not find any… IMHO.

The information given at 4.01 and 46.25 is incorrect. The 4.2 engine does NOT have a longer stroke than the 3.8. The 3.4, 3.8 and 4.2 engines all have the same stroke, it was the bore size that was increased to create the larger cc engines. An enjoyable video.

In general a very good video imho.
Adresses a number of valid and worth points regarding potential issues.

Another invaluable source of information is Crespin's book:

I enjoyed this immencely, and certainly agreed with the mans comments at the end re Ser 1 against Ser 3. My Ser 1 is a great car but I enjoy driving my Ser 3 much more.
