I am carrying out a slight upgrade/refresh of my leads and plug caps. I was planning to use NGK caps, as I have in the past, but apparently NGK have discontinued all of their 'classic' style of plug caps.

Just wondering what others would recommend? I currently have Champion original style caps that I must have put on 25 years ago, but I just wanted something with better sealing and a tighter fit, if such a thing exists

I suppose my thought would be that if they've worked ok for 25 years, must be ok?

I'm not totally disputing that, Malcolm, but I did cure a slight misfire by just pulling the caps off/on the plugs last week. Also, it's my car, and I fancy a small aesthetic ignition mod, so I'd appreciate recommendations.

It wasn’t a criticism Richard. I thought from your post that you were worried about the fit and sealing qualities of your caps so was trying to reassure you.

Understood Malcolm, no problem. I'm actually looking to fit a cam cover mounted lead separator, matched with new leads and caps. I can then keep the 'original' set as a travelling spare and maybe have a little more reliability from a nice new setup. I'm just tinkering really, and I do more of that than driving at the moment...

I use a set of Magnecor plug leads, the plug caps provide a very positive fit and they are well sealed although I don't understand why you want good sealing. The Champion 'bow-tie' plug caps provide no sealing at all unless you add a skirt to them.

Thanks - I'll look at these. All I want to know, is alternatives that people have used, bearing in mind that NGK don't seem to be an option any longer.

They do appear to be available, depending on type wanted, on Amazon, Ebay, and other suppliers that still have stock.

Simple, reliable and as fitted to all E-Type's up to mid 1964 but appropriate for all. The letters can be highlighted with some white paint to impress!

Well, after ordering 1 set from Ebay, which turned out not to be available, I have another set of NGK caps on order - I'm still waiting for these, but remain hopeful.
