#1 SNG throttle cable conversion

Post by paulsco » Sat Dec 09, 2023 1:24 pm

I was considering making my own throttle cable conversion as I cannot justify the expense of the SNG one, but just thought I would check the current cost of the real thing.

I noticed from the web site that it is marked “no longer available “
Does anyone know more about this?

I did my own cable conversion, and it's not terribly difficult, especially if you worked as a bicycle mechanic during your college years  In terms of functional improvement over original design, I would rate it one of the best mods you can do, but then I have a LHD car with it's very Rube Goldberg (Heath Robinson?) layout.

Also did a couple of other non critical related mods (one piece connecting shaft and spherical joints at the carb lever arms) that helped with smoothness and synchronization of the throttle plates.

Thank you all for you advice,

Steve, what did you use for the ball joint that attaches the cable to the ball on the accelerator pedal leaver?
At first I thought it was one of the old control rods, but on closer inspection they are different.

E600, does your accelerator leaver attach to both cables, or is it one cable pulling two Cables via the two pulleys?
Unfortunately It is not easy to tell from the pictures.

Thanks again,

It's a common linkage rod/cable accessory available in various forms: https://secure.chassisshop.com/partdetail/C90-044/
https://tinyurl.com/balljointlink

To connect to this, I gun drilled a cut down 10-32 brass screw then passed the cable through, upset the end, and soldered in place.
