This is really sad news. He will be sorely missed and, as others have already said, if there is any way David that the forum can pass on our collective condolences to his family that would be much appreciated.
RIP Christopher.

I met Chris a few times and communicated with him on a number of occasions. Always generous with his time no matter what the subject. As well as a formidable KC (someone who faced him in court attested to this first hand) he was a accomplished pianist.
I’ll miss him and hope he and his wife are together now, wherever that may be.

Only just seen this. Very sad news. Always very knowledgeable and 'correct'. He sent me a very nice PM a few years back after I'd been off-air for a while due to illness. He'll be missed.
Rest in Peace.

David, that link shows a nice photo of Chris and Hilary, do you have a photo of Chris or both of them with an E Type that you could add here, please? It would be very appropriate for the forum.

Angus alerted me today of Christopher’s passing. He lived pretty close to my sisters in Burton on the Wirral so I visited him when I came back to see family. Hilary, too, was the nicest of people and knew all about the houses my sisters had moved to as she was a keen horticulturalist and the gardens there are opened several times a year. Hilary became ill in late 2022 and by spring last year she was gone. Not surprisingly, it really knocked the stuffing out of poor Chris. He lived only a couple of miles from Tony O’Brien, also of this list. He is survived by his two sons I believe, one of whom bought his dad a classic late 1980s Bentley simply because he thought he’d like it. Anyone here got a son like that?
A few years ago when I contacted Chris about finding classic wedding car locally for my youngest son’s wedding, he offered his own Rover P5 and insisted he’d be their chauffeur, for which he refused any suggestion of so much as a tip, let alone payment.
For those who never met Chris, you missed a special person. With his booming voice and tall frame he was like a six-foot Rumpole of the Bailey. He and Hilary will be hosting lovely dinner parties and musical soirées together again now.

I have only just heard about this as I have not been on the site for a few weeks. As a near neighbour of Christopher I have been helped by him many time. He was always willing to come to my garage and help me out with lots of issues. When I called at his house normally for some help he would be in the garage tinkering with a new/old car he has obtained. Always listening to classical music. Hilary his wife would be reading a book in the garden and always made me welcome. He has been a great help to me and will be missed for lots of reasons . His knowledge will be and great loss to the forum.
