I been using those clip-on to window frame mirrors for a while and found despite them being reasonable quality mirrors, the quality of the fitting to be lacking. The bracket where the two 5mm screws thread into are made of cheese and any attempt to tighten them results in a stripped threads. On the way back from a recent meet I discovered the driver side mirror was getting loose and on attempting to tighten it the thread gave up on me. Rather than go buy a new pair of the same I purchased from Amazon a cheap (around £7) an M5 heli coil kit which was an easy and now relay able fix.

I agree, not particularly well made. I put a bit of non-slip rubber in the fitting to help it grip.

Had the same problem and agree with rubber insert.
I also replaced cross headed screws with SS counter sunk allen bolts. Neater and easier to tighten with more control using an Allen Key.

I silversoldered two narrow nuts onto the back of the mount as one of the treaded holes had stripped.
