Mirrors-Window Frame Mt-Bullet/Talbot Racing style bullet mirror available?
#1 Mirrors-Window Frame Mt-Bullet/Talbot Racing style bullet mirror available?
I have a Foseway rectangular mirror recommended here currently on my window frame and it looks nice, works well, and I find it generates a lot of wind noise so I'd like to replace it with a bullet style.
Anyone recommend an OTS side window frame mount mirror of the bullet style that mounts well and is of decent quality?
I see Limora has some but the mount looks like the grub screws screw right onto the chrome frame?
Also, due to the tariff problems with unknown costs and items being sent back to the UK it would be nice to find a source that has already imported them into the US. Not a requirement but would be nice.

Layne, presumably you can keep the attachment bracket then just put a new bullet mirror onto it? Would that be the best way to go as I’m guessing you can buy the bullet mirrors easily enough in the US?

did you see this product? I have not tried it and have a round clip on from Holden myself on my Roadster. I have not noticed any excess wind noise but there again I normally have the roof down. https://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/ ... rror-100mm

Geoff- doubt it. The bracket is all part of the Foseway mirror and have not idea if it would fit a different mirror. Wouldn't chance it I guess.. Not finding a frame mt bullet in the US at this point.
Andrew-no hadn't seen it. The bracket looks like it would be gentle on the frame. Have to check it out further. I have found that significant wind noise attributed to the top down at speed can be traced to the door mount mirror. When doing a funky streamlining of the flat mirror it makes a nice difference.
Thanks guys.

My ears are still ringing from a 1.300km round trip to Majorque (Balearics) this last few days, ending just a couple of hours ago, mostly top down, and much of the distance at between XX and XXX mph, and I am amazed by the idea that one might identify where the noise comes from, and still more by the idea that the shape of the side-mirrors might change the aural experience, or should that be assault.
If bullet mirrors help then count me in for eight of them.

In case it helps others, my solution for the bullet mirror (which I much preferred to the clip on Fosseway), was to mount directly to the door chrome (roadster obviously). I actually found a 2nd hand chrome trim pretty cheap on Ebay, rather than drill my original. It mounts firmly with two holes through the trim.
To me, this looks good, and was the only place I felt I could mount a bullet mirror and get a decent rear view.

I had bullet mirrors on a TR4 and found them useless in terms of rear vision. Maybe the one you found is better, but bullet mirrors don't tend to have the same field of vision as a rectangular in my experience.

Field of vision is more a matter of mirror size than style I would think,
And bullet mirrors on the fenders while they look cool are next to useless IMO.
Is your chrome finisher bumped out due to mirror mounting is is that just perspective?

I think that's perspective mostly, but it's certainly nothing to do with the mirror.

NO not the mirrors fault. It's the location.
Just too far away for a 3-4" mirror. of any shape

Absolutely agree. A PO fitted them on my MK2. Look cool. Completely useless.
