#1 Nice reaction from SNG after new part breakage

Post by Philippe-J. » Tue May 27, 2025 3:11 pm

I know that the French are famous for grumbling all the time, so let me have a positive post here.
I had a breakage of one of the IRS V-mounting screw when tightening it to the cage. A bit annoying for a new part, and one that secures the IRS to the car :scratchheadyellow:
I am pleased to report that SNG will send me a new one with no discussion :bouncyyellow:
Nice isn't it?

Its good that you are remaining positive about this, and the service from SNG
(especially as you're brave enough to try again with a replacement)

Yes Mark, I try to remain positive about what is a hobby, after all. So I won't get upset about the commercial aspect of that case, especially when SNG proposed a solution at their expense.
On the quality side, should your statement give me any worries about those parts? :scratchheadyellow:

There have been some issues with dimensions and with the rubber delaminating from the metal body but I haven't experienced or heard of the studs breaking off.

Now that I can load pictures again, here is a photo of mine after stud break:

I can assess that I tightened it to the official torque, 21 N.m, not more

Good to know you followed the correct torque spec too. It’s helpful hearing about other people’s experiences with these components, especially since they’re so critical for IRS mounting.

Hi all
These are almost impossible to fit as a correct replacement, the angle of the fabricated metal part is wrong, also the 2 holes don't line up, they are at least 7-8 mm wider where they mount on the rail, use your old part to compare the angle, and width, if you manage to get them on, well it will be a miracle and if you manage to do it will certainly put the whole IRS out of alignment, may be you have a different part?
I would like some feedback on this as we have some issues as well

G'day Chris, if u try too hard you can end up changing the angle of the bracket
Here is the original design drawing:

There are essentially two designs, original and upgraded. They both fit however the upgraded version is murderously difficult to install without a special tool that makes it a cinch.
Read all about it in this old post:

I can assess that I fitted the new mount with no trouble to my original IRS cage.
And I succeeded in assembling the whole IRS to the tub with no issue, including the radius arms which only required a slight pressure on the rubbers to fit on their bowls under the floors.
What I cannot assess thought is the strength of the new mount studs. Wait and see... :fingerscrossed:
