#1 AI generated resto stories?

Post by Philippe-J. » Sun Jan 18, 2026 1:26 pm

Strange videos can be seen since a while where you can see unlikely wreck cars undergoing unlikely restorations, leading to a more unlikely looking "new" car. For example:

I wonder if this not all AI generated? If so, what is the point? There is no tips nor info to find for amateurs like us, nor publicity for a non existing workshop :questionmarks: .
Sometimes I believe I belong no more to my time  ...

Certainly not an E is it. Dashboard all wrong 2 more cylinders than normal. Rear suspension all wrong. As said before. What is the point?

What a load of nonsenses. Anyone can see it for what it is, shows how much AI is lagging behind reality. In the future people will live by the ‘reality’ they absorb from TikTok and AI.

The AI videos are annoying. It is surprising that a company like Google/Youtube can't filter out rubbish like this. Presumably they will eventually filter them out as I can't see how thouse videos would be useful to anyone. I use the three dots and select 'Don't recommend channel' to feed back some data.

Their yellow is wrong for a start.

I'd say the yellow is the least of the problems  isn't it?

Another way to look at it - this is now. Imagine in say 5 or 10 years. It could be showing a totally accurate rendition of any aspect of restoration or mechanical work, viewed from any angle etc. etc.

Maybe I'm being optimistic, but the AI genii is well out of the bottle, so I'm going to be hopeful that once all the crap has gone, it starts to bring real benefits, as it has in other areas of life.
