Will anyone be trading in their E-Type?

It looks like an XK or V8 Aston, which isn't a bad thing, with headlamps from a Jap car, which is!

I like the size having been reduced from the XK, in theory at least. Like all Jags though, they seem to skrink around you once a few hundred miles have been completed.

No I won't be swapping the E Type, or my modern XK !!

Looks ok, but I bet 9 out of ten cats would prefer the Eagle Speedster.
I don't actually think it's as good looking as the XK; the back looks good but the front looks a bit to 'Audi' for my liking. Spiritual successor to the E Type? Not really..

The acid test - will people be celebrating its launch in 50 years time as an icon of car design?

I like it - very smart design. Can't help thinking it looks a bit like the Nissen ZX something or other but then I think the XK looks like the Hyundai Coupe at the front.

I think that I prefer the looks of the XKR-s, and I doubt that the new car will have the soundtrack quite like a big supercharged V8!!

I doubt if anything from the past 20 or 30 or so years will be celebrated when it's 50 years old. The E Type was such a step change to the cars that existed at the time, in terms of price and performance, and is just so timeless in its beauty, that it's hard to imagine what would have the same impact today. We are spoilt with so many good performance cars, and even the cooking models have respectable performance, if not looks. Certainly not the looks!

I never did like the XK8 or XK and I have always thought they are both way too big, but I like this very much. I think I'm correct in saying that if you calculate the price of the E-type at launch at today?s prices allowing for inflation, you get a price of about ?30-35K It would be nice if Jaguar could make a sports car at that price. Mercedes have done it with the E-Class Coupe so why shouldn't Jaguar? I just don?t think we need another ?80k sports car. (Not that I have any reason to say that might be a projected price if it comes to production ? I?m just guessing that it might be that much). I also agree with James May that manufactures all want to make their cars too ?hardcore? with rock hard suspensions tuned on the Nurburgring to give ballistic 0-62 and track lap times. Jaguars are just not bought be men in their 20s going on track days every other weekend. There are track day cars for that. I am 50 and I seem to be the youngest person in the local JEC. I would like to see a car like this C-X16 with COMFORTABLE seats and suspension that also happens to be quite quick. 0-62 in 6 sec is quite quick enough for me on real roads; pot holes, blind bends et al, and is a lot quicker than my e-type. Who here would throw out a Citroen SM because the seats are like a feather bed and the suspension floats on air?

All in all, a big thumbs up for the styling, including the headlights!
