Hi,
I am just about to start the restoration of my E-type after spending some time extending my garage to make the room.
I have very little history on the car, which spent a large portion of its life in Utah.
Utah is like a closed state; nobody wants to talk to me there!
Anyway, I thought I should try to establish some of its earlier history and this is where I am hoping you can help:
The Heritage certificate states that my car; a 65, 4.2 FHC number 1E23245, was built on 10the November 1065 and dispatched to the distributor on 19th November 1965.
The distributor was Belgian Motor Company of Bruxells (spelt that way) Belgium.
Original dealer not recorded,
Original owner not recorded.
I have Googled the Belgian Motor Company and it would appear to no longer exist.
Has anyone heard of this company?
Can anybody advise me on how I might trace its history from here?
Thank you,
Paul

You might have to go back to the original documents of the Battle of Hastings to find any information on Jags built in 1065

Well.. It took 900 years for Jaguar to send it to the distributor. :)

when i imported my series 2 i was quite lucky in that two pieces of paperwork in the car had two different names on them, i was able to trace the car back as far as 1984, but no earlier. the DMV of each state, is very much a closed door, you could write to them and try though, however they will obviously only be able to tell you the history whilst it was in their state, you could try contacting JCNA and see if they can help. if you send me the vin number i will have a look myself, or if u still have or no of the US licence plate number this will help greatly too

hello Paul
I believe the Belgian Motor Company of Bruxelles /Brussels in Belgium was the holding company importing Jaguars in this period and so most probably the main Jaguar dealer in Belgium .If Jagaur Belgium still has records (I woudl have doubt about it ) of this period they may help.
Otherwise indeed the best way is to track back the history of yoru car with VIN N? and /or licens plate through the State Ministery of Transport and get back as far as you can. Best wishes
