Do you think it is safe to bring the car out. Has all the salt now disappeared.? I still think my tin top in showing signs of salt.

Or am I being neurotic ?

It depends how precious you are about it.

I have cars I wouldn't dream of driving cos there is still salt dust around

Yeah, take the old girl out for a spin. Just got back from a drive out - bloody fantastic and now it's on the drive with all the stuff out of the boot, floor mats up, hood down and the bonnet open to give everything a good airing. I'll give it a dust off in a bit, but it can't do it good just to be stuck in the garage all winter.

It went down to minus two here last night so I guess the gritters will have been out. Tuesday should be around 17c but we really need some heavy rain to wash all the salt and grit away. A few years ago I took my car to the local classic car dealer and in the 6 miles to get there on a sunny February morning on what seemed like dry clean roads the amount of muck on the underside and suspension was unbelievable. They spent more time power washing it than fixing the minor problem I had

I did 80 miles in my FHC yesterday . Splendid ! and of course, over here on the West Coast we have in fact not had salt for quite a few weeks so I don't think you'll come to any harm - certainly there was no trace of salt on mine
