Hi,
I have to fix a new identification plate on my car.
What are the different experiences around?
Shall I buy a stamping set and do it myself, or send a blank plate with details to someone to have it properly done?
Thanks in advance for your comments.

I found that quite a few of the reproduction chassis plates, including from some of the more well-known suppliers, weren't an exact copy of the originals. The font and spacing was different. In the end I purchased from Classic Jaguar in the states (and got them to stamp it).

I agree with Chris
I've just done that for two plates both stamped, unfortunately not cheap at $25 each plus $25 to stamp each one. About $19 to ship, but between the post office and the customs add an extra ?14 (?8 to the post office) when you collect them. :(
Had I known that I would have a friend send them as a present.
They are however the business.
No discount for two either, I just got the sales BS (from a Brit expat, actually) that they are already too cheap. Market forces etc.
I did pick one up about 10 years ago in the UK that was equally as good, but all the recent stuff is not right.
Regarding the stamps, most of what you can buy generally will not give you the right result, if you choose to do it yourself you need to find somebody with the rights ones. IIRC someone on the forum has mentioned about having an original Jaguar set? Maybe for the piture frame though which is a different size.
