E Type 3.8 RHD ...Dunlop rear calipers
#1 E Type 3.8 RHD ...Dunlop rear calipers
In need of help... I am fitting standard Dunlop rear calipers. Do the bleed nipples fit in the upper outer side of each caliper or to the diff side?? The brake line diagram in the Jaguar parts manual seems to indicate the outer side, but this then suggests the small connecting brake line from top to bottom of each caliper when fitted to the diff side may foul the handbrake mechanism. I have looked at photos produced of rear suspensions but would appreciate words of wisdom from the wise restorers out there. Thanks Graham

Andrew : I'm afraid your pics are not of Dunlop brakes , but the principles are the same. The practical way used today is to take the bleed arrangement from the top of the outer cylinders, by mounting a normal pipe and connector to those points, and then running the pipe to a convenient location either at the top of the IRS cage if you have access through the boot floor ( usually early cars only up to early 1965) or to a point on the rear wall of the cage , where a bleed nipple is then attached. This makes the whole job much easier
