#1 A bad story ..... not to be repeated !

Post by Lorenzo » Fri Jan 25, 2013 9:15 pm

In November I decided to fix my tachometer, which marked about half of the revolutions.

Then I thought to modify it connecting to the coil, but in the meantime I found an ebay shop offering a tachometer ready for my purpose (in reality a little bit different, I think a 3.8 rev counter).

I wrote to the seller and I purchased the tachometer.

As soon as I got it installed, the ?new? tachometer didn?t work as it should: it had a slow response, occasionally freezes and instead to be illuminated by a green light, it had a white light.

I wrote to the seller about these problems, and he asked me to send back the rev counter, together with mine. I foolishly followed his request and I sent him both rev counters. After about a week I received only the "new" rev counter, I installed it, and this time everything was correct: green light and correct revolutions counting.

But what about my tachometer? I wrote to the seller asking to have it back, and he replied that the he will send it, like new, at his own expenses.
Since that day I have not received anything more, and he had no longer replied to my posts.

I told you this little story to make sure that this man will have no more way to cheat people. Stay away from this seller!

When in November? Beginning or end? If it was the end of November that's not too many business weeks with the Christmas break, so he could be working through a backlog and dealing with paying jobs first rather than a freebie.

It's not great service but I wouldn't give up yet. I'd just send him a polite email every week or phone him and ask for any news.

Hi Pete,
I bought the rev counter from The Gauge Shop on November 20th.

I only ask ta have back my rev counter at the same condition I sent to him.

It's MY rev counter, and as I saw, it's not so easy to find another one.

I agree Lorenzo - I think it is shabby treatment. The question is whether it is somewhat understandable and due to heavy workload at a bad time of year or just plain bad behaviour. As each day goes by it is harder to avoid the latter conclusion but he does list a phone number. I wouldn't bother with emails beyond a certain point. Keep us informed.

Give his mobile a ring, if he wants to send it to my uk address, I'm happy to get it to you.

The trick may be to be as ugly and sticky and enerving as dog?s sh*t on the floor. It stinks and is VERY nasty to get rid of.

Just be the same ... to him.

Call him, mail him, tell every other one about it, make other people call and nerve him, so that he finally WANTS to get of that tach just to get rid of

YOU.

I asked to my attorney to write him an e mail.

No reply from him, of course.

As you bought the item on Ebay you should use their feedback system and rating to put some pressure on him. Tell him that without any news from him you would post a negative feedback on his Ebay shop and a comment about this case, it usually works fine.

Also contact eBay Buyer Protection: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/ebaybuyerprotection/index.html

Good luck!
