I have been using the lift for about 2 weeks and it has changed my working methods drastically. After years of crawling under cars in all weather conditions I can honestly say everybody should invest in one assuming you have the space.
I appreciate they can be expensive But if you seriously work on cars a lot, then they are worth the investment. Even on minor work such as cleaning the car, all the bending is taken out and access to tricky bit become much easier.
I am not sure what damage I may have done to myself over the year climbing under cars but the costs of a lift is far out weighed by the benefits.
Christopher, you know where I live and are welcome to use it any time you require.

I know where you live too, and I'll be on the Wirral this weekend. Luckily for you the rented Astra is running fine :-)Tony wrote:Christopher, you know where I live and are welcome to use it any time you require.
I've only got a humble Kwik Lift and creeper, due to very low ceiling height, but you're right about easy access being a boon.

I purchased a one post lift in 2009 and love it! It was quite expensive, more so than the two or 4 post lifts but so necessary!
I first build a Morgan +4 from 1968. Full re-built with new wood frame and metal chassis. I could not have done this full restoration in the 7 months it took me without a lift.
I chose the one post lift because of my garage height and the width a two or four post lift. I allowed me to keep on using my second interior space to park my daily driver in the cold winter nights of Canada...
The space saving was important. The work could not have been done without this important tool.
In 2010 I started on the Jag project and that one took me over 18 months and required the help of a Jag specialized mechanic to help me with the more technical parts of re-assembly.
Without this one post lift I was able to use the full space of my double garage, clean-up once done at night and revert the other space into a paring place for the night. It saved my marriage!
I moved to Switzerland in June 2012 and took the lift with me. I changed the motor's power source to allow me to plug it in 240V current, but I have yet to reassemble it as my inner garage space is about 6 inches too low for me to install it.
I have not yet resolved myself to cutting off the top 6 inches!
Here are a few pics from 2010 when I started to disassemble the E-Type:
