The 'E' Type Forum

Over the past 40 odd years it has become a tradition for me to put everything aside for one week over Christmas and spend the time with my now aging aunt (it started with grandmother and moved down the generation) using the time to complete a difficult jigsaw, this gives us an excuse to spend a bit of time together without the need to be constantly trying to find things to talk about.
You may be wondering where this is going, well today I took delivery of the complete interior kit for the e-type and now I find I have a kitchen full of newly plated chrome work, an office full of rubber and a front room full of vinyl and leather etc, all the glass is under the stairs. While there may be fewer than 1000 pieces this looks like the scariest jigsaw I've ever seen and I don't think Auntie will be any help - having said that I suspect that if she could get her zimmer into the garage she'd give it a go.
As with the rest of the car I'll just take it one piece at a time but this is the first time I've had so much stuff ready to fit in one place at the same time, I can almost see the end from here. :D

Have a wonderful Christmas and don't get to high on the glue with all that rubber to stick. Failing that take your Aunt to the pub and get totally wasted.

I'm thinking the best plan of attack is to concentrate on re covering all the loose parts cant rails dash top, etc - because I can do this in the house where it's warm. (and I find it's always better to use adhesives in a confined space ).
Then when the weather improvers and the body of the car is a little warmer, the vinyl a little more pliable and the fingers more responsive I will move onto fitting the rest.
I can always fit the bumpers and light etc if I need something to do in the mean time, not that your ever short of a jobe when restoring an e-type.
