Found an interesting website in the US called 'The Garage Gazette' which does what it says on the tin, describing all sorts of car repairs, restorations etc mainly of US cars. However there are several posts from someone who has stripped down and rebuilt his E-Type and has described every stage in detail and has also posted numerous pictures of the process, including close ups of particular hinges where he has had problems, and of pipe connections, trim bits, bolts etc etc. Very useful if you are, for instance, dismantling the IRS as he shows all the shims, washers and the order they should be. Link below - can take a while to load, although if all else fails go to the Garage Gazette and search for 'Jaguar thread' and then click on 'It's Got a Jaguar Thread. Or Two (the Index!)'

Thanks for the link Malc; a really interesting website.
It is always good to see how people approach their restorations.
There are a lot of interesting tips; well worth a read.
