Silversone Classic
#1 Silversone Classic
Is anyone going to the Silverstone Classic 2014 ?. After doing Le Mans it will be a walk in the park for the S3. Does anyone have experience of this event please.
Thanks Dave C

It's a bit of a curate's egg event. Too often , it is spoilt by the inordinate time taken to get in, and the only tip I can give you there is to come off the A43 early if you are coming from the east, and go through Silverstone village, and likewise if coming from the west , go past the exit for the track , until you are past the village , and then go off on the next exit, back along the westbound carriageway, and through Silverstone village. This way , if you are lucky you will avoid at least 2 miles of queuing
Last year, I was fortunate enough to be given BRDC passes by my son, and watching everything from Luffield was a great privilege

Plenty of opportunity to roar around the lanes trying to find the quickest route in!! Good event, with great cars and racing. However is a little spread out. Dont expert the nostalgic feel of Goodwood.

I'm going on Sunday. Managed to get an infield pass with E Type Register. Am also concerned with the excessive queuing. The old V12's don't like standing too long in the heat!

#6 Silverstone Classic
Still reeling from the dreadful organisation over there when we celebrated our 50th Anniversary. Added to that the "wonderful decision" of having Maseratis escorting our cars around the circuit- how wonderful was that!
I consider this a mediocre event and I will be keeping my powder dry for the Goodwood Revival. A spirited convoy run blast through glorious countryside - to see and hear the Spitfires (no not the cars!) to see amazing grids, amazing cars parked and to see all the eccentric dressing up. Bring it on!

Agree the Goodwood Revival is great, but I get relegated to the public car park in my E Type because it's a 1973!

Happened to me in my 1975 Fulvia a couple of years ago. Beautiful car, all painted up to replicate Munari's '72 Monte Carlo - relegated to the public car park because some over-zealous nerk spotted its 'P' plate.SESH wrote:Agree the Goodwood Revival is great, but I get relegated to the public car park in my E Type because it's a 1973!
So it spent all day parked amongst the Mondeos in the public car park, and I strolled round 'exciting' lines of Austin 1100s and Hillman Imps in the 'historics' car park....

I've booked with the JEC too.
W e're going instead of the Le Mans Classic, just for something different. LMC has still got to be the greatest classic motoring event ever, but I'm keen to see what it will be like.
I heard about the marshalling disaster for the E-type 50th, and not looking forward to massive queues to get in. So will probably go early doors on Friday morning, just to be on the safe side.
