Goodwood.........anyone know......??

I was at Goodwood at crack of sparrows yesterday, Friday, that's 7.00 am for those of you who are retired folks and watch breakfast tv :D

Anyway, point is when I had got my coffee and walked back to the car park there must have been 200 Jaguars all line abreast row behind row. Now there was surely 60 E types amongst them, lots of foreign plates, but does anyone know where they all came from? i.e did they all line up outside the circuit and drive in together hence they were parked in a block? Just interested as I had seen no mention of it here and wondered whether I am missing some other intel ? fantastic sight though, don't e types just "glue" the rest of the Jaguar brand together? I mean I love, and own saloons, and XKs but its the E type that makes it all happen for Jaguar IMHO. Where would a Classic Car Park be without them?

Andrew,

We were in the Tax Exempt Classic Car Show parking area on the Friday and Saturday and then up on the GGRC Lavant Bank on the Sunday. We had arrived around 11.30am on the Friday - just as the two Lancasters flew over - and we had been directed off the alloy roadway to the left to park up in line behind the Wall of Death - giving us direct convenient and easy access into the "Over the Road" area.

We noticed the Jaguar wooden signage and we too wondered what that was all about. We were a bit earlier on site on the Saturday and were again directed into the throng of Jaguars. We do actually prefer to park amongst the amazing mix of cars on display, rather than "Oh look there's yet another oh so common E type". When we parked up we asked our E type neighbour why all the Jaguars were parked together and he referred to an announcement on a website - but was not specifc which one.

We had not seen anything on the GGRC website and on the Sunday over breakfast with Patrick Moynihan who runs the JEC Mark 2 Forum, I also mentioned this gathering to him and he had no knowledge of any announcement or JEC involvement. I agree about the high number of european Jaguars there - our Hotel had a large French Jaguar contingent - so perhaps it was an european initiative ?

That was a long day yesterday - we arrived on the Lavant Bank at 06.15am to claim pole postion next to the Members Marquee for the E type.

A superb weekend as always with fantastic weather and racing.

The E Type Club emailed members about the special parking a few days before. However some of the marshals on the Friday were unsure what a Jaguaractually was - by Saturday they'd obviously been given copies of the Observer book of classic cars as all was well. Gave me pleasure to see my chum being ushered elsewhere in his Porsche. Goodwood was fantastic. Wonderful outfits, wonderful racing, wonderful noise -Spitfires and 2 Lancasters and wonderful prices. ?225k for a Series 1 !

We were there yesterday. Great day, long and tiring, particularly on the M25 on the way home. Parked in the pre 66 car park and wasnt directed to the select jaguar bit (thank goodness).

Amazing spectacle - still trying to take it all in a day later!

I was there yesterday. Yes, got an email from E Type club and got sent in to the Jaguar part of historic car park. Then free coffee from the Jaguar Heritage stand at the parking area; extrra bonus. Great day on Sunday.
$ cars up from me was a 2+2, reg no. DAB 28H; mine is a 2+2 DAB 26H. Bit spooky!

Both Worcester registered cars - quite possibly originally to be found sitting alongside each other in the same main dealer (Henley's?)

Well that seems to have answered that then. It really was a superb line up and of course the show gets bigger and more of a spectacle every year. Can't wait for 2015! I wonder whether Jaguar will always have a dedicated area.

I never saw the Jaguar Heritage stand...was it there?
