I have done a very indulgent thing and treated myself to one OTS and one FHC 1/18 model from AutoArt which I saw at Goodwood this year. They are not cheap but in my humble opinion are possibly the best in this scale I have seen. The detail in stunning, and the OTS even came with a magnifying glass so you can examine the details. here are some photos of the OTC









of course now I have an OTS in my preferred colour of Old English White you could say it has saved me rather a lot of money!

I saw those models at Goodwood as well, stunning 8)

Try the magnifying glass on the tyre sidewall, they look a little low profile to me

Now that's being churlish!!

You appear to have out-detailed me on the 1:8 scale now Andrew :( I was tempted to make the bonnet under sections for the air scoops etc on my mini 8381 TF but never did in the end. I also quite fancied doing a roadster conversion on another model. Hey ho, I enjoyed it nevertheless.

This does look fabulous actually. Shame it's not Carmen Red with Biscuit leather though ;)

Hi , I think its a lovely model and when the FHC version came out I was very tempted , I have 1/8 models of all our cars (icluding our focus ST daily driver ) , but the 1 thing that "urked me " about it , is the tyre's all the detail on the model is surperb , and the lacing of the wire wheels excellent , but !! the tyres look like they are the wrong profile , like the car's been fitted with 60 profile tyres , or is it just me ??

I thought my tyres were a bit low but found the tyres valves worked and managed to pump them up with a syringe and now the profile is more accurate 70

Very detailed mode indeed. I have heard of this model before, and it's one of the best. However, no matter how scaled it is they can never quite get the front of the car to look spot on (the front tends to look a little quirky or characturish for one of a better description), ie the shape of the headlights and air intake. It's like the shape of the bonnet is too perfect or complicated to replicate accurately at a certain scale...but maybe I've been looking at really poor scale versions. Every other model car or classic car I've looked at seems bangon in every detail, both front and rear, for instance the Aston Martin DB5 scale models. Speaking of scale model E-Types, I saw on the forum somewhere of a really large scale model FHC. I think it was shown in one of the club runs/meets in Derbyshire. It shows it sitting on a table. Anyone know where you get those models from?

I think you're referring to mini #860927 She's under the safe ownership of ME :) It's a Monogram 1:8 Scale FHC, usually available on eBay for a three-figure amount for an original untouched one. This came to me as a project needing a fair amount of work. I had to scratch build a few bits but if you can get hold of one they're brilliant fun to put together.
