Not good in my opinion, real enthusiasts cant afford to buy them anymore, rich investors are scooping them up and putting them away in storage never to be seen driving out on the open road where they should be !

I think we're seeing a repeat of the late 1980s and early '90s. At some point, there will be glut of cars on the market and we'll see a reduction in prices as the market adjusts itself. While E-Types will never become worthless, I do see them becoming more attainable in a couple of years.

The only up side that I can see is that for those who are restoring one it means that they can justify spending the money on it and not ending up losing money on it (within reason of course). Obviously if you're paying top restoration companies to do the work then all bets are off.

I went to an auction recently for a DB6. I was surprised at the high price the car reached ($300k) and yet failed to reach reserve. When I told my brother in law, an art auctioneer about this his response was that one day that would be a million dollar car.
E types are desirable and becoming rarer. Personally I doubt that prices will ever drop much, and indeed will continue to rise significantly over the long term. The rapid increase in price in the poorer quality cars (see the thread on Jag Lovers) to me reflects that there is a lot of competition among buyers at the bottom of the market taking the perceived last chance to get a foot in the door in E Type ownership.
I remember 246 Dino's being $40 to $60k in the 1980's. I'm sure we all have similar recollections.
I bought my S1.5 coupe in 2011 for $30k, and my 3.8 OTS in 2012 for $40k. Both were rough but were complete, matching numbers, rust free drivable cars imported from the US. The guy who imported them recently told me that there are no cars like them available any more; they have all gone.
I'm hanging onto all 3 of my E Types; prices may fluctuate with economic conditions but the only way they can go in the long term is up.
