#1 2+2 wheel arch panels

In the interior of a 2+2, underneath the side trim that covers the rear wheel arch, is a curved/shaped metal panel that effectively extends the line of the wheel arch forward to the door post. It takes up the depth of the rear seat, and allows a (little) armrest for those (little) users of the back seat. It has a foam pad stuck to one side and appears to be riveted to the wheel arch and floor. The side trim goes over both the panel and the rear wheel arch as one.
The panels on my car however are rusty and some of the rivet holes have split - while I can probably patch them up, I have tried to find new ones to see what they cost to see if is easier to just get new ones.
However, I cannot locate any with the usual suppliers - I'm going to see Stan at GB Classic Trim in the next few weeks so he might know, but in the meantime does anyone know who might supply them?

Hi,
Mine were not with the car when I bought it. I only discoverd 20 years later the missing panels. I searched for them, but they are unobtainable. I remade them in the shape using layers of soft black foam. Her some pics. Example is from an other 2+2 with original panels. Other 2 pictures are how I made it. Will post the pictures later, when I find out how to.
Regards,
Richard

Use V12 panels as they drop lower and allow room for a decent sized speaker.

Be interested to see the pix. Problem is, no-one seems to supply the panels (4.2 or V12) as they are not listed in any parts catalogues (although I am waiting for a proper Jaguar 2+2 one so they might be listed in there), and I have also spoken to a couple of the usuals but with no joy. If anyone knows who supplies them, or even a part number, I would be grateful to hear.

Hi,
Here are the links to the pics I mentioned:
Pic 87 is an original panel. I got this picture from one of the members on this forum or JagLovers. The original panel is riveted in place. The other 2 are pics from my car, how I made it.

Simon - yup definitely the ones, mine seem to be in similar condition so if I can't find any to see how much they are, a bit of tin bashing will take place - after all they are hidden. I'll try RM&J Smith - thanks.

Thanks Pete - good to have the part numbers although a quick trawl of the usual suppliers' websites and a Google search did not turn up anything. However, at least now I know what I am looking for.

The Series 3 panels are different from the panels needed for series 1 and 2.

Correct. I said they were different ('arm rest' bit is lower) but they still fit. The trim panel above is basically flat and not complex to widen (or use V12 2+2 upper bits too) and/or fit nice speakers. There is a shaped foam cheek piece that is needed with the steel panels but it's not difficult to rig something up.
All shown in the J38 S1 2+2 book and presumably the V12 2+2 list (I only have the S3 OTS list).

Pete - I have a 'genuine copy' of the S1 2+2 J38 but there are no diagrams for the 'Body Fittings' section. In addition, in the Index, no diagram ('plate') numbers are listed. I have previously posted a query on this in the 'General' section under 'Spare Parts Catalogues (esp for 2+2).
I assume you have a genuine copy of J38 - does that list all the diagrams including those for 'Body Fittings'? I also have a genuine copy of J37 which lists them all.
