Not exactly a thing of beauty , are they ? With the airscoops etc they look like something Callum designed

They are lovely things though, if not as pretty as the road car. Apparently the car doing the show tour, probably the one in the above video, is a fully finished but still development car and won't wear one of the 6 spare originally designated chassis numbers. I wonder what will happen to it? Probably has to be broken up by the factory which would be a terrible shame

If it was allowed to live on I can imagine the future arguments as to its status as a genuine Lightweight

It is being retained by Jaguar and will be put in their museum along with other prototypes.

Oooh this can of worms again ;) I think the new lightweights looks lovely, very faithful to the originals (in fact almost identical) and I rather like the "it's good to be bad" thing as well, that sort of slight sense of a rebellious nature from driving a Jaguar, hehe :)

I think the new lightweight looks wonderful. The additional air ducting only serves to give the car a more purposeful look, although Sayer once said (correctly) that an air scoop is actually a heat pump that requires horsepower to operate. And, as Roger stated, I wouldn't turn one down if it were offered. That would be like refusing a date with Jennifer Aniston because she cooks a bad breakfast.

They are a machine built for a specific purpose. If you want to win in Europe in vintage racing you'll have one of these. "Beauty is as beauty does." If only they had been as well developed in the 60's as they are now.
