Anyone had experience with polished stainless steel bumpers? Am thinking about getting all front and rear bumpers re-chromed on my S2 OTS and had some pretty poor chroming in the past and wondered if this is a better alternative. Appreciate any advice.

I fitted SS bumpers on my Stag and was very pleased with both fit and appearance. They don't look as good as fresh chrome but they will last a lot longer.

I had an accident in my Stag, a Focus hit my rear quarter bumper. Three points of damage to Focus, door, front of wheel arch and rear lower qtr panel, I drove my Stag home and polished the bumper, no marks. I think I'd have probably had damage if I'd had chrome bumpers.

That's what I was thinking too...the odd scuff could be repaired rather than suffer flaking chrome. Will give it a try.

What's the going rate for a set of S/S bumpers? Not having checked myself, I am a bit curious. And how does that compare to cost of rechroming?

JEC mag this month (Dec204) has some editorial on ss bumpers (p12) and mentions a company called Group Harrington who specialises in ss bumpers. They are offering 5% off to JEC members and also apparently have ?100 off some E-Type Series 1 bumpers.

No connection etc etc.

Just received a full set of Series 3 SS bumpers from Group Harrington. I was rather concerned when I found that it was being totally dealt with from Vietnam but can now give full praise to them as they are without doubt the best bumpers I have ever bought in over 40 years of classic ownership.
Look perfect and no sharp edges and even the rubber over riders ready to fit plus quick delivery.
I am a great believer in buying British whenever possible but as I couldn't get a delivery date in the UK and not wanting to get re chroming problems
SS seemed the way to go. I am delighted I did

My Ser 1.5 has Grupo Harrington SS's at the back and the originals at the front. Fitting of the SS's was straightforward and they look very good to me.
Only difference is: the SS's shine is a little more brownish compared to the chrome's more blueish shine. But neither in sunlight nor in the shade you can spot the difference between the front and the back, unless you put them directly together - something I prefer to avoid as long as they are mounted to the car. So thumbs up for the SS bumpers.

Last I looked you could get the set of 4 direct from Vietnam for US$800.
