While looking for a rear foglight on ebay for my son's Minis I came upon this item. It is tiny and cheap and sends out a red laser triangular pattern onto the road behind you and is used for a high visibility light but how legal is it?

Both the boys think its cool, could be good for the E-Type as well

Looks legal to me. MOT says rear fog must be centre or offside of vehicle and steady red light. Only possible failure would be if the switch did not have 'tell-tale' warning light visible to the driver.

Is there no specified wattage, like 21W or 35W?

Notionally 21w but lasers are measured in mw. Doubt MOT inspector would complain as long as it shows a red light visible in daylight.

Interesting gadget, but I'm not sure it would fly in the U.S., unless it was used as a third stoplamp--in which case you'd want it aimed upwards, to get the housewife in the Chevy Suburban to drop her phone and pay attention.

It seemed like a good gadget at the time but my oldest 20 pointed out that it would just give the Police and excuse to stop him so it's off the upgrade list.
