Found this on ebay, and it got me thinking, as the police often used high speed vehicles as pursuit cars, i wonder if any e types were ever "police cars?"

Hi - a colleague and I have done some research on this - and as far as can be ascertained, only one was ever used as a police vehicle - and that was a 2+2 factory demonstrator, loaned to Buckinghamshire Constabulary. The vehicle was exported some years later - don't know if it still exists.
There were rumours of Surrey Constabulary using a couple of XK140's around the same time as the Metropolitan Police were using the 26 Daimler Darts - but we cannot find any information to confirm this - either photographically, in Jaguar Archives, or with Surrey Police (changed from Surrey Constabulary some years back!) retired officers.

And here is a copy of the only known photograph of the car - unashamedly pinched from a book on police vehicles.
It's not, as the title info states, a Berkshire Constabulary car - but actually Buckinghamshire - they used quite a few Jaguar Mk 2's over the years so were a good opportunity for Jaguar to loan out the car for testing.
You'll see there are three officers inside - you can just make out the PC in the back - how comfortable would that have been? - and no-one knows now whether that was a standard crewing for the car or not, or whether it was just for the photo opportunity.
You'll also see that the front over-riders have been removed to fit two tone horns. Other than that, no livery or signs visible on the car.
