Blanking plates

There are two aluminium blanking plates above the passenger footwell which are located below the windscreen washer reservoir (on a RHD S1). I need to replace these but I can't find them in any catalogue (SNG, J37 or J38). Does anyone know the part number or where I may get them from?

They are Steel, not alloy, at least in my S1 2+2

They are alloy in my series 2 2+2, so perhaps there was a crossover point for steel to alloy?

The ones I got from Hutsons were steel. Annoyingly the studs fitted were metric, but at least they came with nuts.

Jaguar parts were always pressed steel with spot-welded studs, right through to the end of Series 3.

The cad plate makes them look somewhat like aluminium I suppose. If anyone has alloy parts they are not factory AFAIK. Since they can be substituted with flat plate they are dead easy to mark out and make if someone in the car's past life wanted a bit of DIY 'bling'.

They are not shown in the pretty pictures but they are all listed at length in the Body Fittings section in J37/J38, spread over two pages down to the last nut and the plain and shake-proof washers for each nut.

Having found the part numbers, it appears that SNG DO sell the parts after all (despite them telling me they didn't). It also seems that all the main suppliers do them incl David Manners and Hutsons (who incidentally are the cheapest). The part numbers are BD27413 & BD19713 (RHD), BD19712 & BD19711 (LHD), plus there is all sorts of gaskets, nuts & washers to go with!

Hi Malc,

Be careful here; there are two different types of blanking plate. early cars had a narrower plate than the later cars over the pedal box.
The first Ebay link shows you the right shape, except this one does not have the bracket for the servo bottle.
BD19713 is the plate over the accelerator hole and it would be for a LHD car.

BD27413 is narrower and for the early car, pre 65.

My SNGB-purchased J38 has all diagrams cited in the spares listings under Body Fittings. As you can see from the text content, those are plates 49-53 inclusive.

Thanks Pete - my copy of J38 has all the plates for all the sections - except for pates 49 - 53 in respect of the Body Fittings chapters! They are not even listed in the Index at the front, whereas all the others are.

If David Jones reads this, any chance of putting the parts catalogue for a 2+2 in the E-Type Knowledge Base (especially the diagrams/plates)?
