#1 A word of warning...
... for anyone planning a visit to SNG Barratt (or indeed any parts supplier). Last weekend I drove there to buy a part having been told it was in stock only to be told on arrival after a 1hr 20m journey that it was not in stock. Get them to eyeball the parts before you leave home as their stock control is not very good.

So they had one (or more) in stock on the computer (and on the shelf). You put the phone down and jumped in the car. In the following 1hr 20mins they sold the part(s) to a customer in the shop or they packed it into one of the numerous parcels they send each day. Or combination of both.
Happens all the time, supply and demand. Why hang SNG out to dry ?

I obviously asked them to reserve the part for me and they conceded there was an error on the system when I actually turned up.
The last 20mins is OK but Wolverhampton is not so much fun.
serves me right for trying to save ?50p&p!

Not just Barrett, anybody that uses computer controlled inventory management will have on hand +\- 2 of what the computer shows.
You are quite correct in wanting to have the clerk lie to you that he or she has found the item on the shelf.
Sorry for being impertinent, but how much of in inconvenience would shipping the piece have been? 3 hours of driving pays for a whole lot of postage.
