Every time I carry out any work on my E Type I have to refer to my Triumph TR6 Workshop Manual to find what torque setting I should use to tighten the fixing. For example front Caliper attachment 7/16 UNF 65 lbf.ft. This manual contains a torque setting for every fixing on the car.
Is there a similar document for the E Type?. The Haynes Manual ignores the subject totally, and the document on this Forum I find difficult to understand.
Confused requires Help.

Hi Mark...To answere your original question no not to my knowledge..as you can see those pages are only suggested figures and its not a jaguar document......the Jaguar workshop manual does have some torque settings but not for everything........for front caliper mountings both S1 & S2 cars the manual says to lock wire the bolts and no torque value.......Personally I just follow the manual...nothing has fallen of yet...I dont rate the haynes manual much.....all the jag ones are in the knowledge base

As Steve wrote, it is just a recommendation and not Jaguar specific. I would only use it on bolts I could not find "E-type specific data" for.

I (Google) have just found a list of Torque wrench settings in the Jaguar Series 3 Service Manual on our Knowledge Base!!
Except for the engine I am assuming that the rest are applicable to the Series 1 & 2 as relevant.

I have a copy of Machinery's Handbook. For the lions share of fasteners fasteners (basically if the part number begins with "UF" or "UC" torgue is not a critical value - tight enough that it can't shake loose is fine (I have a calibrated elbow/wrist). For the cases where the manual doesn't specify a value and it IS an situation where torque does matter (caliper halve bolts and such) I just look up the value for that thread, grade of bolt/finish, and material combination. If you google a bit there are tables for the typical threads, bolt grades and finishes, and materials (Steel, CI, Al, Brass, Bronze).
