I seem to be having an issue with access to the wanted/for sale section of the forum. I can log in OK and see the list of each item but if I select any one of them I get a page which just says '502 bad gateway' .
I thought it was just a glitch last week but it continues. Do I need to do something?

I get the same thing from time to time when using my iPad. Just switching it off completely and on again always seems to clear it. Hope that helps.

This is a weird one that others have seen and does happen from time to time. The only things I can suggest is you clear your browser cache (Settings > Advance > Privacy in Chrome) - cookies, images and history. Also try another browser - IE, Chrome, Opera, Firefox, Dolphin etc - to see if you get the same (invariably you won't). More here: viewtopic.php?t=6370&highlight=gateway

Thanks for the suggestions, I found if I was logged in I could not see your comments and got the 502 message but when I logged out I could read them and then clearing the browsing history allowed me to see the ads.

This has happened to me a few times and an internet search for the error message suggests that the problem is on the server end. It happened after the latest automatic Windows update to me. That said, I have done the following with positive results.
Update the browser(s); I use Chrome but have IE resident. Even the automatic updates do not catch up to the problem onset and may be days or weeks behind.
Update the anti-virus and firewall programs.
Empty the cache of extraneous cookies and temporary files; I use CCleaner to do this. Run the registry tool also.
Access the website from IE and sign-in. IE seems to need ultimate control :) Even though I do not use IE, every time I run CCleaner there is always a large number of IE files that need to be deleted for some reason. IE is not my default browser, is not on the start-up and is in fact disabled. It is still on the computer though since I do need it sometimes to get through this issue.
I then access the site using my regular Chrome and magically the problem has disappeared, albeit temporarily as it will come back in a couple of months whenever the browser and servers get out of sync again.
The order that I have suggested is the only one that works for me. I tried various iterations to finally land on this one.

This has happened to me before, usually just do a refresh/clearing of the cache and that sorts things out. It only ever happens on my computer rather than my iPhone which is clearly unfazed by the whole thing.

As a follow up to these problems, I have a programme ( free) that I have used for years called CCleaner which clears caches, history files etc and which I use about weekly to keep things tidy - it takes about 30 seconds to tidy my system, usually clearing something like 400MB as it does so
Still available free for the basic version from

The server/domain is neither correctly configured. Here is a few decent tools to identify problems.
http://mxtoolbox.com/domain/etypeuk.com/
http://dnscheck.pingdom.com/?domain=etypeuk.com
http://www.dnssy.com
Eg the reverse DNS is not set (no SPF record) and that will often make gmail and webmail providers mark email from the forum as spam.
Misconfigured nameserver is neither good, it is usually the ISP / hosting company that should resolve this. I would ask them to setup a reverse dns at a minimum (spf record).
