6.5 inch Minilites and a MOT failure - help !

Hi, I've bought a series 2 2+2 that came with 6.5 inch minilites with 205 70 VR 15 or ER 70 VR 15 tyres to be exact.

Without discussing the merits of minilite vs wire (I had intended to change them to wires at some stage) I had the car MOT'd yesterday and it failed because the tyres were touching the rear wheel arches.

I need a quick fix and wondered if anyone could advise on whether I could fit 185 70 VR 15 tyres to 6.5 inch minilites? And would this give me enough clearance to pass the MOT?

Give Dougal a call at Longstone Tyres (Bawtry) and he can advise plus fit the tyres for you. Always an interesting place to visit - last time I was there there were two Type 35 Bugatti's which had driven in for new rubber. You should be able to fit 185's from Michelin, Pirelli or Vredestein and they will improve the handling no end.

If you intend to get wires eventually, seems a shame to buy tyres unless they can be used afterwards.
try another tester.
