I was looking at photos of a couple of years ago and realised something.
I was on Goodwood circuit in an F430 Ferrari at a GT 40 track event.
I was doing ok overtaking a few cars when in the rear mirror I could see a car creaping up on me.
I decided to break extremely late on the main straight before the last bend and chicane, nearly coming a cropper ,as did Stirling Moss many years before.
I was not going to let this car have me... But this car was an e type and it went past me on the bend and drifted the back out in the greatest of style and proceeded to leave me for dead.
Anyway looking back at the photos it was 4WPD driven by Jackie Oliver no less who was practising for the Goodwood Revival.
I spoke to Jackie and had our photograph together .
Not knowing until today the relevance of that car.
What a dick head I am !

Nice story. I have a similar one. A few years back I was on a private track day in my DB4GT and on the track were several hot period race cars. One in particular was a Lightweight E Type which I held at bay for a lap or two before it occurred to me that I may be holding him up. I barely eased the throttle and moved marginally over and the E flew past me and left me for dust. As the car went past up came the drivers left hand to thank me . It was only one Octagenarian practising also for Revival. Stirling Moss!!

Amazing that an old guy in a smart car then jumps into a race car and blows everyone away.
Good drivers could get into an old ford Anglian and still beat ya round a circuit.
When I saw Jackie Oliver was driving the e type we all started laughing as we knew he won lemans in the gt40 and nobody but nobody would be faster on that day round goodwood.
There's a saying old racers don't get older they just go faster
