#1 The E-type Boys

Post by Simon P » Fri Dec 04, 2015 1:15 pm

How did this pass us by?

My wife was chatting to our local butcher today, and turns out his son plays in the group 'The E-type Boys'..... Say what? Yes, it turns out to be true:

http://www.guardian-series.co.uk/news/1 ... Type_Boys/

And to quote from the article:

Why the name?

There was a group of lads just after the war called the Bentley boys who were ex Spitfire pilots and while everyone else was building small light cars they would go out over Europe driving these great big cars and carousing and I just thought that was so romantic so I wanted to find a band name that touched on that. E Type is very British, sporty and devil may care.

Are you still into racing?

Yes but I haven't done any for two years because I've been too busy.

Do you have an E-type?

Not yet!

Clearly a man of some considerable style and taste! :D

For the benefit of some of our older members, I'm sure one of our younger members like Mr Johnson can explain the whole Maxi Jazz and Faithless thing...

Methinks they should be told the Bentley Boys were pre-Spitfire.

Probably sneaked in under the radar? :-)

I have been part of a private bunch of mates called The E-Type Boyz for over ten years. I thought we'd been rumbled.

I'm old (and young) enough to have followed Faithless in their heyday, been to concerts, got the CD's, and all that !

I presume you've all heard of the Swedish band with the even more succinct name "E-type"

I originally mis-read his Wikipedia entry as "Swedish Endurance musician", then realised it actually said "Swedish Eurodance musician", and then realised that the two things are pretty much one and the same anyway...

Ah I do hate to disappoint Simon, but I'm not into any of that rap or electronica stuff either. Have a look at my iTunes library and you'll probably find it to be quite familiar. I am decidedly old before my time in more ways than just my choice of automobile! ;)
