#1 Which diff should I use?

I thought I'd posted this but can't see it!
I've just come into possession of 2 complete rear
suspension assemblies, both with 2.88 diffs, and would like to
fit one of them to my 1969 4.2 FHC.
One has an alloy, ribbed rear cover plate and a small hose in
a plastic sheathing going to each hub, which I suspect may be
for ABS (the assembly is probably ex-XJS?). It bears a rather
soiled plate saying ''Genuine Jaguar Replacement'').
The Other diff has a steel cover plate like that fitted to the
car at the moment.
I would like to fit one of these to the car to lower engine
revs. Provided that they are in a similar condition, my question is
which one should I use?
Many thanks,
John
