Another Ebay scam?

Spotted this on Ebay today.

It seems a strange listing. Why would you waste two images showing someone(I assume the current owner) washing the car?
The seller has one feedback for a camera lens cap of all things.

Seems to be a bit fishy.

My thoughts are dont touch it with a barge pole....seller no history, recent e bay account set up, no supporting information. I have emailed to see what ID numbers etc are available..

It's a car with a very odd history. It has been in UK since 2002, and has been more or less continuously in MOT since 2005 , but has done only 122 miles in that time . Very strange

The seller has supplied me with VIn and engine numbers. It is on the XKE data base....perhaps I would loosen my reservation slightly and view it if interested in it...done my knee in at moment so no inspection for me... :)

Re e bay and buying from the USA

Just reading lots of e bay comments. there is a pretty safe way around most of this which does work. I have used this route maybe 100 times or more in the USA.

In most cases you can agree a deal with a seller via direct contact. if they are legitimate they will be as nervous as you about dealing.

My method of approach is to ask to go through a local attorney known to the seller rather than a standard car escrow company.

if they don't want to go this route there is a much likely fraudulent outcome.

if they accept this as a reasonable path, they will give you the attorney details.

It is much easier to verify a legal entity through the various web browsers, telephone calls and emails. I not only do my best to verify the seller but also the attorneys. this is the safest way. I have bought over 100 cars stateside the last 2 years and would be happy to help.

It's not foolproof but no issues yet

Last replay before mine now was from MR. Lance James who bought probably 50-80 cars mostly e types from me since 2009!
Hope he can give some reassurance here in his next replay as we did 30 cars since then!

I'm not sure how someone who has only posted twice on this forum three years ago would give anyone confidence in anything. In fact one of the posts prompted a question from another member which has to date not been replied to by "Lancejames"
I'm also not sure why you are restarting a long dead thread. Clutching at straws maybe?
