As said it does have a wealth of information, particularly about dates of changes.
The pictures are good, but personally I find the pictures here in the Factory Original section more helpful.
I have several of the books in this series, and they are very good for someone unfamiliar to "learn" the car, and great for finding exactly when part "a" changed to part "b". The pictures are not always enough to guide a restoration.

I really like the structure of these books, and still refer to it after 20 years of having E Types and most of the other 70 odd books on E Types.
My old black 4.2 Coupe is in there, looking very good. They show the seats as the example of the 4.2 seats, but in fact they are Series 2 recliners, trimmed in the style of a Series 1 car. Can't always believe what you read, but they do look right!!

When you feel that you know everything that's in the book, then move on to Philip Porter's 'Jaguar E Type - The Definitive History' and of course his 'Ultimate E Type - The Competition Cars'.
If you get to the stage that you know everything in those two (1300 plus pages!) then it's time to start reading about another sort of car!!
