No, not me, I passed that milestone a few years back.
I`m talking about the car.
she will be 50 years old in march 2017,
and I wanted to do something
different with the E type to celebrate this.
As some of your cars will already have reached 50, what did you do,
and have you any suggestions?

Mine will be 50 in Feb. As it wasn't registered for 9 months (maybe saw service as a demo or suffered some kind of damage before it could be sold) it wears an F plate.
Not planned anything yet, but I do have photos of its 20th birthday, many years before I bought the car. In those days it was still a daily driver, and used for school runs and shopping trips. For its 20th, it took two very embarrassed boys to school with balloons tied to door handles and a large card on the nose proclaiming its age.
Unfortunately, unless there is a very mild winter that prevents my local authority from salting the roads, the day of its 50th will be spent indoors. We may celebrate with a glass of shampoo, sitting in the garage with the door open, engine running, pretending to be on winding rural tree lined roads in summer.
Some while ago I posited on the J-L forum that there might be a GBOL tour. Something now has me thinking of arranging an early or late season run from tip to toe (or the other way round) centred around E reg and F reg E-Types but open to other Es and any lesser marques whose owners are desperate to run with the world's most beautiful car. There is a hard core run for classic vintage and veteran cars, which takes place in December, and follows an approximate route of 1,400 miles. The most commonly use direct route is about 850 miles.
A trip of 850 miles could be done in 3 stages over 3 days with adequate comfort and service stops at pre-arranged venues. If this looks like developing into something ...........
ps GBOL = Great Britain Oil Leak. Oil leak tour is a moniker attached to ad hoc 'tours' organised by listers on the J-L forum.
