This was spotted in the US, and posted on Jag-lovers. It has caused a few comments. What do you think?

If it was THAT good then why bother totally restoring it? It'll just look like every other (impressively) restored car now.

"We are however in the process of updating it to run on unleaded petrol, which would involve new stainless steel valves and valve seats." - Factory fitted hardened valve seats as standard.

"Completely unmodified"
Except of course the change of colour as several photos seem to show Maroon beneath the respray !

Headline statements are:

"This is a complete unmodified car with all parts present. The car was in fully serviceable condition at date of acquisition and was starting first time on the button."
"There was not a great deal wrong with the bodywork when taking account of its age and the conditions it had been operated and been stored in."
"Many new replacement parts have been obtained, ready to be included in its reassembly."
"One example of improvement is that we have added two strengthening bosses on either side of the rear axle and suspension cage, because a common fault with E Types was that they were notorious for corrosion in this area"
"We are however in the process of updating it (the engine) to run on unleaded petrol, which would involve new stainless steel valves and valve seats"

Now it is just another restored E-Type and if you drive it you will wipe off 2/3rds of your 'investment'.

The bit I like is the other activity of this 'restorer'. He has sold, in the last few months, some boots, a flight case, golf clubs and two sofas. But nothing to do with any cars, let alone an E-Type.

Given the change of colour that has already been noted, and the welding and head work, as well as the fact that this UK car, which is being 'restored' in the UK, is being sold in USA, that the 5,000 mile history could be more fabrication, sorry, wishful thinking, than fact.

and what is that modification on the RH side of the gearbox tunnel housing? I'm sure that extra plate is not original.

Didn't even remove the headliner when respraying... and the original colour also shows around the wiring inside the dash...

Don't think the frames were removed for the re-paint. Hopefully any fool who looks at buying this will do a Google search first. You can help by adding any key words to your posts that the search engines will pick up. Any list will do, no need to add descriptions e.g 1967 FHC, 5,000 miles, unrestored E Type etc

Interestingly if you look through the photos of this 1 owner E type with 5,000 miles there is a van with a UK registration in the background suggesting the " restoration " is/was being done here. The seller does say the car is currently in the UK. The seller also states "ships from Wilmslow " which just so happens to be 2 minutes down the road from me. Strange that they are not listing it on the UK EBay site. Should anyone wish to lodge the $6 million with me, I am more than happy to act as an intermediary .

If the car was completely serviceable and started on the button, why do they need to order so many new parts? Take them off and clean them seems a good idea
