my old V12, where are you
#1 my old V12, where are you
I have come to that stage in life when I sit in my chair watching last of the summer wine and recalling all my past conquests. Well to be truthful, I was thinking yet again, that I would like to find my old V12 Roadster and try to buy it back as I have known the car from new, and have the sister to it which was bought at the same time in the same family an XJ12 seried one. I sold it in 1987 and regretted it almost immediately.
Not everyones cup of tea, colour wise but I like it Lavender with dark blue trim. Its chassis 1s2299 and registered XGC734M. DVLA have a record of it, so its still extant but does anyone know where the old girl is and would be kind enough to point me in the right direction. please e mail me if you do on andrew.honychurch@btinternet.com

here is a photo of two of the car when I bought it . That was a personal registration of the first owner and I registered it as on the previous post. I reckon this was 1987 and I was filling it up after buying it.

It is listed in the 2011 JDC Directory of Vehicles and Owners but unfortunately without the owners contact details. Maybe worth asking the JDC to put something in their magazine. Send them copies of the photos plus you story but leave it at wanting to be "re-united" with your old car.

Nice Quattro in the background.
Have you HPI'd it? or put the chassis number in XKE data?

the quattro was mine, D848GYP bought from Scotts in London and written off whilst I was wining and dining a young lady called Clare. Suddenly there was a massive scrunch and I saw the Quattro being pushed past the restaurant window by a Transit Van until it came to rest against a lamppost on the Fulham Road. Shame, great car.
I have not done an HPI but I doubt it has finance, although you never know as the world has changed. nothing on XKE DATA Harry apart from my own note. thanks though

HPI will tell you if it is on the same number and give you owner changes.
The more information the better.

Thanks Harry. Are you saying that it will give details of ownership even without there being any finance on it? I thought ownership information was subject to data protection etc?

I think, Keith, you have checked the wrong registration. XGC734M is on a 5343 cc Jaguar in Blue first registered in November 1973 which therefore cannot be an XJSC . This sounds to be Andrew's old car . The personal reg is the one you checked by the sound of things

thanks guys, but I wish it were that simple. I have checked DVLA etc etc and all I know is it still exists but no idea where. I cannot believe that it has not been seen round and abouts, I have asked JDC if they know of it but again they know it exists but no ownership information

Have you considered asking the E-Type Magazine to run an enquiry? They would probably like the period photo plus any ownership tales you have to tell.
The FHC I recently bought was advertised in one of the classic car magazines and by chance a previous owner of the car spotted it. He called the vendor and asked them to pass on his details to me. Spoke to him this afternoon and he owned the car between 1980 and 1983, paid ?7,250 with 51,000 miles on the clock. He has lots of period photos, some paperwork and certificates from various JDC/JEC concours entries and we are arranging to meet up so he can be reunited with the car. That one came out of the blue!
