Sold for **.*** million, a world record for the most expensive British car sold at auction.

Also in the auction was some unique Shelby's from the Carroll Shelby foundation and a very original GT40

I believe one of its sister cars, chassis XKD603, was driven on the road to Neville Swales' XJ13 runout at Curborough two weeks ago. This car was one of the five Ds that cleaned up the 1957 LeMans 24 hour race, coming 2nd IIRC. It (XKD603) is thought to be the most original long nose D in existence. Yet there it was, not being pampered, but drifting around the hairpin in the slight drizzle.
