Jaguar Heritage at Goodwood

Went to Goodwood on Friday and visited the Jaguar stand. They had a couple of red US spec e types for sale. One was a 1966 2+2 on sale for £100k. Unmolested according to the salesmen. However it had had a poor respray (dull finish with sanding marks visible), and SU carbs. Consolation was an original toolkit.

This is seems extremely optimistic to ask £100k for a LHD series 1 1/2 2+2. Hope for all us 2+2 owners

No £100k as displayed on the stand. He conceded that it required a respray and that would be extra.

Apparently Jag Heritage have decided to source cars and sell them on without restoration.

On the subject of Goodwood.....

I'm back from a most splendid day there in glorious weather yesterday (apologies to anyone who had the misfortune to have to endure Saturday's weather!). Lovely to see so many fabulous E-types in the 'Tax Exempt Classics' car park (I don't qualify for the Pre-'66 car park ), but whose bright idea was it to set aside the section as 'Jaguar Land Rover' parking? I realise JLR is where it's at these days, and today's JLR is obviously keen tha te brands shouldn't be regarded separately, but for the vehicles concerned there's no real historic connection (yes, yes, I know - British Leyland and all that )

Nothing at all against Land Rovers - who doesn't love a Series 1 Landy! - but I'm sure the Land Rover owners would have appreciated all being gathered together in one place just as much as us Jaguar owners would. As it was, I ended up on arrival heading towards lots of parked E-types, but actually ending up being parked with a (admittedly very nice) Land Rover on one side and a (rather tired looking) early Range Rover on the other.

Next year maybe they'd like to park the Ferraris with the Fiats....?

You should have parked with the rif raf, Simon. On Friday we had a DB5 behind us and an F Type to one side. (Hadn't requested a tax exempt parking voucher).
Though all the cars were covered in dust. The tractor-towed courtesy trailer was chucking up so much dust that all cars downwind were covered in a fine coating.
Great day though on Friday and enjoyed having another S2 follow me for most of the A272.

Yes, that minor gripe aside, it was a great day out (and Saturday's rain had taken care of most of the dust ). Far too much to do justice to in single day - I will one day have to go back and do it properly.

Funnily enough, I enjoyed a spirited run along the A272 (the other end of the A272 presumably) in the company of a fairly committed S3 driver
